Heard loud and clear guys. Firstly, you should disconnect the battery to be safe. The from of the car is designed to crumple more than the rear. I was able to measure my working seat with my trusty assistant sitting in it - I measured around 6k ohm - so 4. I've done a search and some have mentioned they've managed to remove them without removing the dash? Or even better a picture with the dash removed so I can see how it's held on and try and do it with the dash in place. You have to remove the glovebox, and I believe it can be reached from there.
Mine is the standard one. My searching turned up an interesting issue. You can turn airbags off, but if they are not physically there, then the right on the dash stays on. Now this is an issue… If an airbag light is illuminated none of airbags will detonate in the event of impact. So basically I can get pretty much any seat and base and just fit it in the back? We want to test the new wiring harness before we bolt everything back together. Please join the Roadfly Facebook Group where members will be more than happy to answer your questions and provide help.
Thanks Angie, that's really helpful - much appreciated! My wife needs to travel with our little one very little, only 4 months and would prefer him on the front seat so he can see her and basically be easy to calm during a trip. Hi, great work, but a quick question - looking at 47k resistors, there are 0. Vehicle manufacturers engage in a similar engineering review and analysis process in order to determine if their vehicles are affected. I have an E46 2002 325i and also had to swap the wires around - blue connected to the white end of the diode to get this to work opposite to the pics on here. But can't see why you would need to remove the dash. Our process does not trick the airbag control module, it permanently disables the sensor. Has anyone in the area received a replacement airbag, driver's side? An airbag warning light indicates a fault on the airbag system.
So to test click the seat belt in ,and then drive with no weight in the front seat, you will see the airbag light go on on the dash showing disabled. Obviously with seat occupancy sensors operating correctly and with no passenger present in the vehicle at time of impact, only the drivers airbags would deploy. Bolt everything back together for now until you get the new parts. I rigged it up so I could plug in the seat while it was sitting outside next to the door. This is obviously quite a costly repair as the leather and foam requires removing from the seat frame to access the faulty sensor mat. This is recall is part of a wider recall effecting Honda, Mazda, Nissan, and Toyota.
Front seat is not a good idea. Thanks again, so pleased I'll be able to transport my little one in style I don't know if there's any equivalent for your proper car, but Benz have a system with a sensor in the seat and a special base for the carseat which disables the passenger airbags when the seat is in place. I thought the seats may be to narrow but maybe not? I was hoping this was the case because the wiring is much cheaper than the pretensioner. Pictured below is a seat occupancy sensor removed from a vehicles seat: Sadly, over time the seat occupancy sensor mat starts to fail as it carries the full weight of a passenger. How will customers be informed of the Recall? Here is how I fixed the common seat belt pretensioner issue. This system is designed to only deploy the required airbags in the event of an accident. Hi All, Depending on the model of E46, some of them had weight pads in the front seats to disable the airbag.
In the second picture you can see the lock all the way out next to my thumb. The passenger airbag is a little more difficult. Seat occupancy sensor mats are used to detect if a passenger is present and occupying a seat in the vehicle. Thanks for the helpful responses and congratulations to those expecting too! The cost of this software removal service is £83. It doesn't have the plastic mounting points, but defo his E46 doesn't have it.
F-Series vehicles are now available, please contact us for further information. It's also safer for a child to be in the rear of the car. You can see the lock is moved over a finger width in the first picture. Edit: Congrats by the way, my second is on the way! My car is on a Kate Moss anorexic diet and I want to remove the steering wheel airbag and passenger front airbag on my E36 M3 1995. Just got a letter through the door for the E46 passenger side airbag recall. Just wondering if anyone had removed these? Does this mean they'll be taking the dash etc out to replace this? In Britain, 24,272 vehicles will be recalled, followed by Italy at 13,022, France at 10,449, Spain at 9,954 and Japan at 7,890. When will I receive my owner notification letter? Why are other models not affected? We're expecting our first baby in May and I'm just wondering if there is any way I can disable the front passenger airbag so I can have the baby seat in the front with me? In Germany, 64,044 vehicles will be recalled.
If this were to occur, it could cause injury to the vehicle occupants. Am I correct in thinking that the sports one is circular, whilst the standard is the four-cornered type? The passenger frontal airbag system will be replaced. The dealer may programme them for you but there's no way for you to do it yourself. No worries, as it is done now and looks great. The a pillar trim comes off, you prise up the centre section that says airbag on it and there are 3 torx bolts behind there they need to come out then they are loose on the pillar but think the end where the airbag plugs in has a bolt on it my dash was already out so don't know if it can be done in situ would assume so but not 100% Any pictures would be great cytefx! Cheers P I have just done this mod - it works but wanted to post my experiences. Lift the seat up and rotate it around and sneak it out the door.
However, there are those days she needs to go with him in my absence and so far he's had to ride in the Audi which has the provisions. The driver's airbag is quite simple. If you wish to remove the entire airbag system, the controller for it is beneath the rear set, and can be removed as well which will turn off the airbag warning light. We simply reprogramme the module, removing all communication to the seat occupancy sensor. Which models are affected by this Recall? I told him that this had been supposedly replaced in the last recall 2 years ago, and that this recall was for the driver airbag.
