I just can't imagine what I deleted that would cause this issue, but if it was at boot up it was probably important. They all do pretty much the same job, scanning the system outside Windows, some possibly more effectively than others. And this read just prompted me to reinstall Avast! Running Windows 7 64 bit. Does this mean that the system drive is not going to be scanned if I select one of these blocks? The pop up window shows no scan logs. Sounds like you need to do some type of Startup repair for Win 10 which probably needs external media. If you are showing no boot device is available you are probably not getting to a point where the boot log would have been created. In this case it is recommended to run a boot-time scan. Whether it finds anything or not does not mean you should not check with the other methods below.
This has never happened before so I scanned with Avast and hijackthis. I created another account called test and I can access this account in both Safe and Normal. Thank you for your comments. Happily, I was just able to recover a 'test' file of music from my laptop using the Puppy Linux and Flash Disinfector and an avast! Here's my malwarebytes and Hijack this Log. Check with these to an extreme overkill point and then run the cleanup only when you are very sure the system is clean. Boot-Time scan always creates a full report automatically after it is run, and customization to this report is not possible. Also, why is it that only Avast seems to finding virut in many files? Please do utilize it only when necessary and always with the utmost caution. When troubleshooting issues with Avast Support representatives, you may be requested to provide this report file.
When I use boot scan all I can do is watch it scan there is no options for deleting while it is scanning, or are going to the log file after scanning and deleting? Any command typed incorrectly out of ignorance may result in permanent system failure. I am using Windows 7 Pro 64 and my main account logs in then automatically logs off. It can be confusing and intimidating for the regular user. Programs start running without user input. Also, even though virut does delete exe files, Avast deleted a lot of files on this persons system so, keeping in mind that Avast has incorrectly flagged video drivers as having virut in them for others, how can one know for sure virut is present? There are no new computer problems that I can detect. But in Windows 10 and Windows 8, Microsoft hides important details about the disk check if it runs before Windows has booted.
