It has been just constant with this car and I am spending a ton of money. It can happen on a daily basis or it may be several weeks between incidents. Old starter motor was not disengaging immediately upon starting the engine. New Tuner module was installed. Air bag light came on again 1 week later. I know of other owners that have had this difficulty even with rust holes through the front fenders. I really think you're over-thinking this issue.
The vehicle sometimes loses the speedometer reading which drops to 0. I stopped at the dealer while still under warranty. When we took the car there for the scheduled maintenance, they were not able to find out what happened with the car. Speedometer, gas gauge none of the dash worked. Dealership could not reproduce the problem. Local repair man could not find it.

Alternator seems to charge slowly. The fuse panel is on the side wall of the driver side dash. Mechanic agreed that this was a problem that did not require repair. The best transmission, hands down!!! Shop reprogrammed at no cost. I got this car in March of 2015 I believe. The engine recently had a catastrophic failure when a lifter stuck causing damage to a cylinder and piston and possibly more when the engine is opened up. Also every time the light was on, I checked all light bulbs. One thing I may have done wrong. Replaced with used unit from my defunct Golf. Could have done better online. Created a drain on battery. Old batteries that are still working fine are the cause of repeated generator failures.
Older Chrysler units were really tough. Went ant bought the part thinking it's cheap enough to just try. In addition, the instrument cluster panel was faulty. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the locking mechanism failed and needed to be replaced. Upon looking online, I've realized this to be a common problem within the community of Jetta owners and now know the the issue is covered under an extended warranty for model years 2012-2013 which really makes me wonder if vw knew about the problem and just didn't care since the issue still occurs in newer models. Called Triple A, who fiddled with the brake light switch. Cannot believe they fit the engine in that small a place. This lighting issue been a nuisance for two years. The car's cooling system broke just about every two weeks and I finally gave up.

The dealer replaced the sensor but did not explain to the contact how the sensor caused the failure. We ended up having to park it for 6 months while still paying 300 a month car payment and full coverage insurance until I had money to fix it. Required new blower unit that had to be ordered for another trip to shop when part arrives.

Any child or elderly person behind me would have suffer serious injury. It has to be returned to the dealer to get it closed. After I've researched this it seems there was a recall on many cars, 97am, but somehow not mine. Performance, quality, safety all in one small package. They never did solve the 2nd gear grind either.
