It was replaced and have had not further trouble in that area. The windsheild also developed a large crack in it, it was replaced. My dad went to inspect the situation and they only showed him water in a cup he didnt see and drained from the transmission. Rebuilding these transmissions is horribly expensive for the Average Joe going to a tranny shop and you can save tons of cash by having a used one in … stalled. If you want your car to look like it came with a manual tranny - you'll also need to replace the cooling lines that feed the tranny fluid cooler.
My recommendation is every 30k miles for most vehicles. I need the truck to be dependable. The plug will be about half way up the trans case either on the left or right side. While driving between 15-20 mph metallic grinding is coming from under the truck. If the tires were just balanced ,you could try rotating them to see if there is any improvement. From what I am reading this happens a lot to the 2004s.
There are 21 choices for the 2004 Ford F-150 Transmission Assembly!!! I tried factory buyback with Fords board but they seem to think it is fixed, I have ask them to drive the truck again like the dealership did to verify the vibrations. Building a home with high quality cabinets, flooring, countertops, etc. This transmission unit includes a transmission case, valve body, tail shaft and housing, torque converter automatic only , and all internal lubricated parts. If you purchase from a large salvage lot or let your mechanic arrange the purchase and install it you might even have a short warranty on the parts and labor. I hope they fix the problem the first time before it expires. Make sure you pull the plug that is half way up the case and not the one at the bottom as that one will drain the fluid out.

I only have 1000 miles left on my extended service plan. I hope that Ford recalls the transmissions for these trucks and reimburses me for the 3,800 dollars I have had to pay koons Ford to get a new one. Just one month past the extended warranty and Ford won't honor the warranty or extend it.
