My 2000 jetta is leaking coolant , it only does this when i turn it off after a 10-20 min drive im guessing this leak is somewhere within the heating core, since i cant find where that water is going , all i see is the container draining , also after 10 mins driving it the car will start over heating i have to stop and let it cool down ,. If the coolant red light is flashing, then that means that a sensor is not responding to the computer system at that time. Turn the light housing counter clockwise about a quarter inch and remove. I now have to replace the coil pack.
This is a relatively simple fix. I drove about 7 miles afterwards home with the check engine light blinking. I have done all at once, and not had a problem on that side since. Please post if anyone has further info. Heed of antifreeze coolant temperature!!! You will see a cap on the inside part of the rear light. Sometimes you can tap on the sensor to jar it and affect the light. This can leak if not sealed off and they smell similar.

After this is done you release the lense by using something flat like a dinner table knife to pry and release the clip that holds the lense in place. I'm not entirely sure how a stopleak in the coolant system could aid towards the blinking oil light. Remove the harness to them and check the sensor for resistance. The dealer has not solved the problem in a year of visits. In my case, I was hearing something unusual while driving when the mileage was less than 80,000. I have not yet confirmed with my dealer that it is my catalytic converter that needs replaced — but I remember that distinctive sound it makes from the last time. Once the coolant gets a little heat, it expands and the sensor is covered. I just bought this car and the previous owner said something about a sensor being bad. I got a 03 jetta and recently I got the warning light too, bu tin this case my coolant is at the max level and What I have noticed is this happens when I doa cold start and the engine temperature is not yet at the normal temperature. They turn it off with no apparent problems. Needless to say you should take your beetle to the dealer to figure out what may be causing this issue as soon as possible. Or you can blame the German's for their engineering and try to hack away at your car. Add water to the tank. The mechanic that looked at it said worst case scenario, it could be a blown head gasket or a bad oil pump. The low coolant light is proably just the sensor gummed up or gone bad. Pick up an aftermarket Oil pressure sensor, install it, and see what happens. It is dyed either reddish pink or orange depending on manufacturer - either way these two colors can be mixed. The check engine light started blinking, so I turned around and went home. So now that its getting cold in the mornings, upon start up, my red coolant idiot light starts flashing every morning only on the first start up. Air Lock in the Heater Core. Check reservoir and refill with proper antifreeze.
I have a problem with my check engine light for the last few months. Hi, I just bought a 2001 Jetta, 1. Under each one will be a screw securing it to the bumper. Does Volkswagon even know why the light is coming on or do they just run the test and fix something else because they are not sure. A few days ago the check engine light went on. Don't really know about them German cars. Ive heard that I might need a new gas cap or there is just a problem with the air intake.

But now when I stard car in morning there is some trouteling sound for about 90 seconds, and then it desapaers with something like air presure valve is being opened. I took to the dealer many times, they changed everything, only when they changed the water pump did it seem to correct it. When someone with a brain finally fixes this, I will update this thread to let everyone know. The first one told me of a recall on my car that could case a false catalytic convert error, and the second letter offered to buyback my car. It also appeared that my brakes were not working properly. You do not need to remove the bumper to access the two fog-light screws.
